about

The new album “Kuolema” from DIY multi-instrumentalist duet Dark Patrick was recorded and engineered entirely by themselves in their own home studio. The recording features hurdy-gurdy, bandura, duda, wooden and brass whistles, harmonicas, a “Technics Digital 10” electric piano from 1984, synthesizer, and an old field recording made by Dark Patrick of church bells ringing “George’s chimes” (the same George that killed the dragon). All lyrics by Dark Patrick, except for those borrowed from our friends, who are, the writer Alexey Shurov (chorus of “Kuolema”), poet Alla Gorbunova (“How the animals bury the hunter”) and philosopher E.F. Mukhina (“Any wall is a door”). Cover photo by Yana Fialkova. Any resemblance to real people, alive or dead, is entirely coincidental.

Тексты написаны "Dark Patrick", а также позаимствованы у друзей - писателя Алексея Щурова («Kuolema» - припев), поэтессы Аллы Горбуновой («How the animals bury the hunter») и философа Елены Фридриховны Мухиной («Any wall is a door»). "This is some of the most powerful music I have heard in long time, and holds a message too. The music built in its billowing, bountiful depths: difficult to believe there were only two musicians on stage. They manage a real art; creating sound which people enjoy" - LOUDER THAN WAR ... more
