“... and then, when he died, his children wasted ten billion dollars in a few years; threw it to the wind, squandered it... don't know what on. And they had to sell this building. They cried and cried but sold it for 30 000 gold thalers... this building... And the family of the Polish king moved in... John III Sobieski... Here was the residence of the whole king! The King himself who's sitting up there...The King... Look, he's got a crown... And he's got a sceptre and six knights who guard him from morning till night around the clock. And on the second floor the king's castle remains. There are these four luxurious rooms there that you can go inside because it's an open historical museum, and look at how kings lived in the 18th century. There is such luxurious moulding on the ceiling... There are such amazing carvings... some kind of wooden furniture... handwork done in the 17th and 18th centuries... floor made in such a way as if it was a rug... And when you pay to go in, they will give you these big slippers, size 60, so you don’t scratch that parquet flooring, but so that you even polish it for your own money...”

Monologue of tour guide addressed to a group of children on Rynok Square in Lviv

Electric shock

I can't even count the burns
Again and again
Some people have nowhere to hide
From their own vulnerability
And the only shelter
Is denial
Nothing hurts
Nothing happens
I don't exist at all
Let's make the world safe
Let's make the world safe for all

Eugene Purpurovsky of tAngerinecAt is a musician like that, and the hurdy-gurdy is the hand-cranked engine that powers the duo's remarkable sound. ... more
